Case Study: Supporting Safety Software Across 20+ Industrial Client Environments

Anonymised case study. Client and end-client details are limited to the operational context needed to explain the work.

Industrial software does not fail because the buttons are hard to click. It fails when the implementation does not match how work actually happens in the field.

This engagement sits inside that gap: safety and compliance software used by mining, drilling, civil, and field-service contractors, with multiple client environments, different forms, different registers, and recurring requests from operational teams.

The problem

The client needed implementation support across a growing safety/compliance software ecosystem.

The work was not one clean project with one start date and one launch date. It was an ongoing delivery environment:

  • new or revised mobile forms
  • register updates
  • user access changes
  • QA checks
  • stakeholder questions
  • implementation notes
  • recurring project management across several active companies

The risk was fragmentation. When every contractor has slightly different workflows, it is easy for knowledge to live in messages, meetings, or one person’s head. That creates slow handovers, inconsistent configuration, and missed follow-ups.

The work

My role combined project management, technical implementation, and operational documentation.

The work included:

  • coordinating requests across the software provider, client stakeholders, and end-client teams
  • building and updating digital safety/compliance forms
  • translating operational requirements into system configuration
  • checking form logic, required fields, register outputs, and user access
  • maintaining implementation notes and repeatable build guidance
  • surfacing open questions before configuration work moved too far in the wrong direction

A typical week could include a process-control checklist for one contractor, onboarding forms for another, access checks for a third, and PM follow-up across the broader account.

The important part was not just completing tickets. It was keeping the implementation system coherent enough that similar requests became easier over time.

The result

The engagement supported a safety/compliance platform across 20+ industrial client environments while keeping active delivery moving across multiple parallel requests.

The practical outputs were:

  • clearer intake questions before building forms
  • more consistent form and register configuration
  • better visibility of follow-ups and blockers
  • repeatable notes for common implementation patterns
  • fewer assumptions when field teams requested changes

For a business selling safety and compliance systems, that reliability matters. Every form, register, or access setting can affect whether field data is captured correctly and whether a client can prove that a process happened.
